Note that both the eldest and youngest son of William and Margaret were
named Thomas, even though the eldest son was still living. This is evidenced
in the wills of both William and Margaret.

by Brian Denn:
In the name of God Amen the second of April in
the year of our Lord God 1609, I Margaret Denne of the Parish of Deal in
the County of Kent widow sick in body but of perfect memory thanks be
given to Almighty God do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament
in manner and form following. First I will my Soul into the hands of
Almighty God and my body to the earth.
And touching my goods first I give and bequeath to Thomas Denne my
youngest son eleven pounds of lawful money of England to be paid to him at
his age of thirty years or at his age of 24 years at the discretion of my
Executor.
Item I give to the said Thomas Denne one ? chest and one cupboard at his
age of 24 years.
Item I bequeath Vincent Denne my second son twenty shillings of lawful
money of England within one month after my decease.
Item I give to Mary Snode my eldest daughter twenty shillings of lawful
money of England within one month after my decease.
Item and likewise I give to my said daughter Mary one table and ? sheets.
Item I give to Elizabeth Denne my second daughter the like sum of twenty
shillings of lawful money of England and one chest within one month after
my decease.
Item I give to Martha Denne my third daughter now the wife of Samuel
Pittock the like sum of twenty shillings of lawful money of England and
one cow within one month after my decease.
Item I give Sara Denne my youngest daughter the like sum of twenty
shillings of lawful money of England and one chest within one month after
my decease.
Item I give to Joshua Denne, John Denne, Sara Denne and Elizabeth Denne
the four children of Thomas Denne my eldest son to either of them twenty
shillings of lawful money of England at their several ages of fifteen
years. And I likewise give to the foresaid Joshua Denne one pair of
sheets.
Item I give to Joane Denne, Samuel Denne, William Denne and Katherine
Denne the four children of Vincent Denne my second son to either of them
twenty shillings of lawful money of England at their several ages of
fifteen years and my will is that if any of the said four children die
before they be of the age of fifteen years then I will that one of them
shall be the heir and I give to the foresaid Joane Denne one pair of
sheets to be delivered to Vincent Denne her father presently after my
decease.
Item I give to Martha Snode and to Mary Snode the two children of my
eldest daughter to either of them twenty shillings of lawful money of
England at the several ages of fifteen years and I will that if any of the
said two children die before they be of fifteen years the other to be her
heir and I likewise give to the said Martha Snode one pair of sheets to be
delivered to Anthony Snode her father presently after my decease.
Item I give to Mary Pittock and to Phoebe Pittock the two children of my
daughter Martha to either of them twenty shillings of lawful money of
England at their several ages of fifteen years and I will that if any of
the said two children die before they shall come to their age of fifteen
years that then the other shall be her heir and I likewise give to the
said Mary Pittock one pair of sheets to be delivered to Samuel Pittock her
father presently after my decease.
Item I will my christening sheet to Mary Snode my eldest daughter and I
will that all my other linen not yet bequeathed shall be equally divided
between Thomas Denne my youngest son Elizabeth Denne and Sarah Denne two
of my daughters.
Item I will to Joane Henecker my husbands daughter ten shillings to be
paid within one month after my decease.
All my other goods my debts legacies and funeral expenses discharged I
will and bequeath to Thomas Denne my eldest son whom I make Executor to
this my last Will and Testament. Witnesses hereof,
William Coppin, Susan Warham.
