Children: Occupation: Chemist and Bookseller. Charles owned a printing press in association with a William Hickman. At the time, this had to be officially declared and this declaration was made on 3 March 1838 in Henley on Thames.

Married: Edith Shirley Huntington in 1889 in Pembroke district, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Edith died in February 1890, at Cirencester, aged 33.

Children: Occupation:  Professor of Chemistry, specialising in agricultural chemistry.

From 1869 to 1873, Edward was an Assistant to Professor at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester, then from 1873 to 1875 he was an Assistant at the Royal School of Mines; from 1875 to 1876 he was Superintendent at the India Museum, from 1876 until 1881 he was a Professor at the Imperial College of Agriculture in Tokyo, Japan, and then spent 34 more years, from 1881 until 1915 as Professor of Chemistry at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester, Goucestershire.

In 1879 Prof. Edward Kinch of Cirencester gave a nutritional analysis of shoyu and discussed the amount of shoyu produced in Japan and its uses in England and America. In 1882 he published, in German, the first chemical/nutritional analysis of miso (two types) plus analyses of tofu, frozen tofu, and defatted soybean meal (Sojabohnenkuchen)
