David was born on 3 December 1792 and baptised on 5 October 1796 in St Nicholas, Liverpool, Lancashire, the son of John Elworthy Fortunatus Wright and Susannah Prideaue. Hospital-Mate David Wright was made assistant surgeon in the 48th Regiment of Foot on 19 May 1810 (London Gazette 15 May 1810 p713) and is mentioned in An Eloquent Soldier: The Peninsular War Journals of Lieutenant Charles Crowe of the Inniskillings, 1812-14. He exchanged into half-pay in the 4th Royal Veteran Battalion on 3 April 1817 (London Gazette 3 May 1817 p1058). David's half-pay was cancelled on 7 December 1830, upon "receiving a commuted allowance" for his commission (London Gazette 7 December 1830 p2563). David also served in the Wicklow Militia in Arklow, appointed as surgeon on 18 October 1820 on the death of his father-in-law, George Symes, who had previously held the appointment. David held the post until 11 April 1856 (An outline of the history of the County Wicklow regiment of militia p56 (1885)). David qualified as a physician, and  is listed in Slater's 1846 Directory as a physician at the Fever Hospital in Arklow, resident at Emmavale in Arklow, county Wicklow. After Anne's death in 1825, David married Eleanor Bury in 1827, and had several children. David died in 1872 in Dublin South district, county Dublin, Ireland, aged 80.

I Martha Symes declare this to be my last will and Testament I appoint John Dobbyn Roberts and his son Samuel Thomas Roberts my Trustees and Executors of this my will First I give and bequeath to my niece Mrs Martha Malet the sum of One hundred pounds stg to be paid to her at the expiration of Six Months after my decease out of any money or funds I may have or that may be due or owing to me at the time of my decease also I give to her my clothes and jewellry I also give and bequeath to the Wesley Methodist Missionary Society the sum of Five Pounds stg also to the British and Foreign Bible Society the sum of Five Pounds stg and the remainder of my money or funds I bequeath equally between my nephews George Alcock Roberts and Samuel Thomas Roberts for their use and disposal and I also bequeath to said Samuel Thomas Roberts my furniture Bed blankets &c
and silver plate And in reference to My Moiety of the Bray Rent say Twenty seven pounds eighteen shillings and ten pence stg yearly payable to me by John Quin of Bray County Wicklow and also as to the profit rent say about eight pounds yearly payable to Me out of the Premises in Rose Lane in the City of Waterford held under the Representatives of the late John Congreve Esq by Lease and which Lease expired on the Twenty fifth day of March 1866 yet I am still in possession expecting to obtain a Renewal of said Lease Now said above Rents and Premises in Bray and Waterford are finally settled and disposed of by Me by Deed of Assignment dated the Eleventh day of March One thousand eight hundred and forty four And I desire that I may be buried in a private decent manner In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirtieth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty six

The inscription on her gravestone reads:
Roberts Sacred to the memory of Mary, the beloved wife of John Dobbyn Roberts, who died 19 Sep 1840 aged 42 years. Also his daughter Ann Sophia who died 24 Nov 1844 aged 8 years. Also his mother Grace Roberts who died 18 Aug 1854 aged 85 years. "Looking unto Jesus." Also his son John Symss who died 12 May 1866 aged 35 years. Also the above John Dobbyn Roberts who died 25 Jan 1887 aged 84 years. George A. Roberts died 05 Nov 1905.

George Standish Hartrick is recorded as single, the son of Standish Hartrick. Mary Matilda Symes is recorded as single, the daughter of Abraham Symes.

Children:
Notes: Mary and George, having emigrated to Victoria, were resident in Ballarat at the time of the Eureka Rebellion in 1854. The story is related in her eldest son's obituary that Mary "held him in a big open chimney for protection during the famous Eureka Stockade." (Sunday Times (Perth, Western Australia) 26 February 1928 p16)
