church school in Hedgerley in 1880. The school log book records her on
30 April 1880 giving a lesson to the Infants and Standard 1. The only
other reference to her in the log book shows that on Aug 30th 1880 an A
Healey (Standard VI) had been "appointed in place of E Eagle as
the latter had been obliged to give up teaching on account of her ill
health."

about 22, was suddenly the stepmother to five children. The eldest of
the children, Frederic, was only about two years younger than Julia,
and nine years later, he married Julia's younger sister, Annie!
